(More customer reviews)I purchased the JMCB2003DU a few months ago. Since the dealer wanted four hours of labor to install, I decided to install it myself. Six hours later, it was installed and worked well, but I wished I had gone the expense of having the dealer install the device.
We hook in our Garmin Nuvi 350 for both GPS and music capabilities. Sound quality is dependant on your headset. On my half helmet the stereo is tinny, but with my Nolan N-42 the sound is as good as any stereo headset I use. So I am pleased with the stereo function.
The intercom was the main reason we bought this unit, and it does a fantastic job. The intercom is on all the time, and while I thought that I would not like that, it turns out we love the always on intercom. Again, the sound quality is dependant on your helmet headset. With a full visor there is very little wind noise, and even with a half helmet you can communicate effectively up to about 70 MPH. Past that you can still communicate, but the half helmet headset gets a little difficult from windnoise.
The CB is a great addition as well. CB is not as popular as it once was, but I rode down Arizona's beeline highway talking with a trucker recently. The range was effectively 3-5 miles and the trucker kept commenting on how surprised he was that the CB was so clear on a bike. more than once he questioned me about being on a bike. Finally I pulled in front of him and waved and then talked. He claimed the sound was a clear and wind-noise free as any CB he used. That was from a Nolan N-42 helmet with a full visor and the upgraded J&M headset.
I would buy this unit again, and recommend it highly. My wife, who does not enjoy gadgets, enjoys being able to communicate on the bike now.
